Repeatable management reporting
Workflow concept · fictional records · no live connections
Turn approved ledger mappings into a repeatable management pack with visible assumptions and source-to-report traceability.
For virtual cfo, accounting and startup advisory teams.

A useful first scope
One company, one period, one ledger format and one agreed report pack, with mappings signed off by the domain reviewer.
What goes in
- A monthly ledger export, account-to-report mappings and a budget file.
- Separately supplied cash receipts/payments and opening cash.
- Professional-approved definitions for revenue, direct costs and operating expenses.
What comes out
- A P&L and budget-versus-actual pack.
- A separately reconciled cash summary.
- An unmapped-input queue and a source drilldown for each report line.
How a reviewer would use it
- Reporting overview: select the sample period and see report readiness, with unmapped accounts prominently identified.
- Mapping: show each source account, proposed category and explicit reviewer confirmation.
- Management pack: show P&L, budget variance and cash; every figure opens its underlying rows.
- Export: print a clean management pack and download traceable CSV output. Reset removes browser-only mapping approvals.

Rules and assumptions
- Treat revenue, costs and expenses as explicitly typed positive measures for this fictional management report; do not infer debit/credit conventions from these amounts.
- Map 4000 to revenue, 5000 to direct costs, 6000/6100 to operating expenses. Start account 6200 as unmapped. The viewer may approve its proposed mapping to operating expenses.
- Before mapping 6200, report readiness is incomplete and definitive final profit/export must be blocked or clearly marked incomplete.
- Variance is Actual minus Budget. For costs, show that a negative variance means lower cost; do not use one unexplained favorable/unfavorable color across all categories.
- Cash is a separate movement summary; never equate operating profit with change in cash.
What should be checkable
- After mapping approval: revenue ₹180,000, direct costs ₹72,000, gross profit ₹108,000, gross margin 60%.
- Operating expenses ₹45,000 and operating profit ₹63,000.
- Budget operating profit ₹70,000; actual-minus-budget operating profit variance is −₹7,000.
- Closing cash is ₹120,000 from ₹90,000 + ₹140,000 − ₹110,000.
- The initial unmapped Marketing row is visible and never silently classified, ignored or counted twice.
Agree the boundary
No investment recommendations, tax calculations, live forecasting guarantees or automatic FX/consolidation logic. A future consolidation variant must specify entity mappings, eliminations and currency rules separately.
